Railroad Symmetry

This 125 year old railroad bridge is an amazing survivor of the historic 2008 flood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. At the time, the physical devastation was second only to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Not only did the bridge withstand the river torrents against it but it withstood the added strain of debris and the many huge boat houses that were unmoored upstream. Quaker Oats, the largest cereal mill in the world, is served by the bridge today and is seen in the background of this image
